Welcome to the homepage of Rutledge Baptist Church. Thank you for visiting our site and we are delighted that you want to know more about our church. We encourage you to browse this website to get a picture of our fellowship. This site is aimed toward your better understanding of RBC and a tool to communicate with the larger community of believers. The believers who make up this local body are disciples of Jesus Christ seeking to make new disciples for kingdom service. Ultimately, we are sinners seeking to know God more.
We are a Christ-centered fellowship. Everything in this body of believers revolves around Him. We desire this church to be His church. As Lord in this place, we want to love, serve and obey Him more. We are not perfect but we submit to His leadership in molding us into expressive vessels of worship and service.
We worship God together in one service on Sunday mornings. Our worship is not style-driven nor are there elements of entertainment. Our pastor is an expositional preacher who believes in the inerrancy and infallibility of God’s word. We seek to practice the regulative principle being as Bible-centered, God-centered, and Christ-centered a fellowship of worshippers we can be.
Rutledge is a 117-year-old church currently located in the West Ashley suburb of beautiful and historic Charleston, SC. Our heritage is varied and today we find ourselves, led by God, to be firmly planted in pursuit of a deeper knowledge of God through His word. We are a Baptist congregation. This defines our and historical and theological similarities we trace back to the English Reformation of the 16th century. That being said, we understand “Baptist” can be defined many ways but, without a doubt, we hold to these foundational Baptist ideals: affirm the authority of Scripture, believe in salvation by grace alone, practice believers baptism by immersion, consider the priesthood of every believer, trust in eternal security, and much more.
We want to get to know you and encourage you to worship God with us if you are seeking a church home. (It may take a few visits for you to get used to us as, quite possibly, we are a bit different from other churches you have attended). The members of RBC are being shaped into a body of believers you may want to be a part of. If so, we will pray that God lead you to that place where He will use you for His glory. It just may be RBC.
